SMILE
06:57
|
|||
Smile by Lynn Gentry
Smile
The sun is showing up
We’re all done throwing up
The favors in your cup
Smile
We’ll be credible soon
Tomorrow will be June
Stop crying in the moon
Be happy
I know the sky is falling
I know that she’s not calling
It’s all suppose to be
Be happy just like me
Smile
Life’s sweet as syrup
Now Sarah’s staring up
Hoping that she might see
Smile
Hoping that she’ll be falling
Hoping that you’ll be calling
And you’ll sweep her off her feet
Be happy
Be happy just like me
I know the sky is falling
I know that she’s not calling
Be happy
Be happy
I know that time is ending
And don’t be condescending
It’s all suppose to be
Be happy just like me
Smile
Like joy will never end
Like she’s more than a friend
Like somehow this could be
Smile
Knowing the plot won’t twist
Knowing that pain exist
The end will not be this
Be happy
Be happy just like me
I know the sky is falling
I know that she’s not calling
Be happy
Be happy
I know that time is ending
And don’t be condescending
It’s all suppose to be
Be happy just like me

REQUIEM FOR THE LIVING*
05:51
|
|||
Requiem for the Living by Lynn Gentry
The dead
And those who try be it
For whom the bell may toll
Will try to keep the secret
Of what we all know now
Before we could not see it
The tell tale heart that know
Will try to keep the secret
In chamber that were closed
Will now reveal the secret
Of what we all know now
We want not to believe it
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem
The lives
The now we are not living
The roles that we forgot
The sight we just can’t give
Relax
We must just go on living
Remember what we learned
Be careful what you get
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem
The path
We chose for one another
I loved you like a friend
And sometimes like a brother
But what we all know now
Is more than just a dent
Yes what we all know now
The time we share must end
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem
Requiem

PICTURES IN SNOW

|

Pictures in Snow by Lynn Gentry
Pictures in snow
Pictures in snow
They run all night
They run all night
But they don’t know
Anything
It gets so hard now
To remain
Until the light
Brings back our sight
Dark on darker
Dawns the light
Flakes they fall
On city light
Soft silhouettes
Hard winter nights
They run all night
They run all night
But they don’t know
Anything
It gets so hard now
To remain
Until the light
Brings back our sight
Solo
But they don’t know
Anything
It gets so hard now
To remain
Until the light
Brings back our sight
White on whiter
Now recite
Words of men
Who had to fight
As all their blues
We will confuse
And shun the light
To run all night
But we don’t know
Anything
It gets so hard now
To remain
Until the light
Brings back our sight
Until the light
Brings back our sight
Until the light
Brings back our sight

Song for a One Woman Play by Lynn Gentry
Am I making it?
Or am I just wasting time
There’s no more faking it
I have to figure out who I am
You know they say there’s
Really only one way out
And if I’m taking it
I won’t have to find out
Curtains call and close
The stage is all I care about
The good things come and go
And soon you learn to live without
A good man is just
One you don’t cry about
And when he’s gone away
He leaves you nothing left to doubt
Don’t push me
I’ll let go
Don’t push me
Don’t push me
Say something
I’m listening
Hold on
Hold on
The marquise’s changing now
And I’m just sitting in my room
The storm ain’t over yet
I can feel the storm clouds loom
Are sins forgiven?
If you’ve already given up
I gotta know right now
Cause’ I’ve already had enough
Don’t push me
I’ll let go
Don’t push me
Don’t push me
Say something
I’m listening
Hold on
Hold on

BLUE EYES
04:47
|
|||
Blue Eyes by Lynn Gentry
As now the streets turns to grey
You came in passing
As I had nothing to say
Your ears sat listening
Time goes by
As our eyes fade
I don’t know why
You chose me
But in my mind
You look happy
As you’re smiling
Should I let go or hold on
We both have nothing
But all the things we should have done
We both were asking
Time goes by
As our eyes fade
I don’t know why
You chose me
But in my eyes
You look happy
When you’re smiling
Blue eyes in
The night
Drift away
There’s no point
In holding
Someone
Like me
Goodbyes in
The night
Bring empty days
Time goes by
As our eyes fade
I don’t know why
You chose me
But in my mind
You look happy
When you’re smiling

ACT OUR AGES
03:09
|
|||
Act Our Ages by Lynn Gentry
Visions of Johanna disappear
As your song rings in my ear
Am I losing you
Or were you ever here?
There’s too much yelling in my mind
For all my thoughts to be so kind
Come just one step closer
And my mind will have no fear
There’s too much noise for me to talk
And there’s no place for me to walk
Impart to me the door that holds the key
So I can walk
And if we do it in stages
Well then we might just get applause
For all these thoughts inside our minds
But if we both
Act our ages
Well then we might not be inclined
To take our chance as we’ve got time
The words you say are making me come close
If life were easier than prose
Then I might be with you
But now the future knows
Between the city and the state
I’ve been too busy as of late
The words you say are giving me a reason
I should wait
But now she stands inside my path
These questions get harder to ask
Girls like you are never really quite
Within my grasp
But if we do it in stages
Well then we might just get applause
For all these thoughts inside our minds
But if we both
Act our ages
Well then we might not be inclined
To take our chance as we’ve got time
The signs you made won’t help define the line
And I’m running out of time
You are leaving one
But who’s left in your mind
These questions get harder to ask
With elephants inside my path
Now both of us have reasons
As to why we shouldn’t ask
But if we do it in stages
Well then we might just get applause
For all these thoughts inside our minds
But if we both
Act our ages
Well then we might not be inclined
To take our chance as we’ve got time

LAY ME DOWN*
04:01
|

Lay Me Down by Lynn Gentry
If you think your life is hard
It’s about to get a whole lot
Harder
Love is not a feeling you get it’s
A pain that you
Harbor
Oh, the pain
Inside
Will, it feel
Alright
You lay me down
To sleep
That I might dream
Of you
You lay me down
To sleep
I might not rise again
You can’t hold it, you can’t hide it
You can’t built it, or buy it alone
You can’t feel it, deal it
Fake it, or be real alone
And all, the pain you feel
Just let’s you know it’s real
You lay me down
To sleep
That I might dream
Of you
You lay me down
To sleep
I might not rise again

IT'S LIFE*
05:20
|
|||
It’s Life by Lynn Gentry
I’m a poet of heartache
I bestow the hearts I break
I’d like to redefine the lines
But these sad songs they take time
I’m a spider in my head
You got caught inside the web
You tried not to break away
But I ate you anyway
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life
Why be drawn to words and rhyme
Of depression and the mind
It’s much easier I guess
Love will only make a mess
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life
I’m the best drunk that I know
Moderate and lyrical
Thrifty, cheap and eyes of pink
High on life and low on zinc
I can’t hold you and be free
We both heard the poetry
One where lovers die at night
I’m too young to make it right
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life
It’s Life

TENDERLOIN
05:49
|
|||
Tenderloin by Lynn Gentry
The hardened path
That some may grasp
When they need
A place to stay
Beneath these walls
We’ll walk and crawl
For here is all
That we can pay
Where some are slipping into darkness
Where some have chose to hideaway
In hopes that they might be forgotten
For all misdeeds of yesterday
Night falls
On day
Death holds
All’s fate
Castles of stone
Leave us alone
For if we need
We’ll just eat cake
Construct amidst
Within fates twist
Beneath these layers
We’ll pass away
Where some are slipping into darkness
Where some have chose to hideaway
In hopes that they might be forgotten
For all misdeeds of yesterday
Night falls
On day
Death holds
All’s fate
Solo
Night falls
On day
Death holds
All’s fate

THINK SO
02:41
|
|||
Think So by Lynn Gentry
Take your hands off my eyes
Take your hold off my heart
Nothing’s easy to do
I didn’t mean to love you
But did you think so
But did you think so
I never meant to change your mind
I changed your mind
It’s easier than blue
Now I will play the fool
And listen now, for trickle down
Till all comes in to view
Take your words from my mouth
Take your things from my house
Nothing’s easy to do
I didn’t mean to love you
Take your thoughts from my head
Take your scent from my bed
Nothing’s easy to do
I didn’t mean to love you
But did you think so
But did you think so
I never meant to change your mind
I changed your mind
It’s easier than blue
Now I will play the fool
And listen now, for trickle down
Till all comes in to view
